LinQuest is seeking a Computer Scientist to work in a lab environment at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland in support of the C5ISR Center’s mission of providing complete life cycle management for the Army's portfolio of SATCOM, intelligence, and cyber and electronics equipment. The successful candidate will work closely with Research and Development staff personnel and other federal contractors to update systems, address security breaches and help troubleshoot issues and restore computer systems to provide maximum functionality. A Network Engineer with the skills required to design, implement, and maintain networks in support of Projected Anti-jam Tactical SATCOM (PATS) and/or WGS Certification testing efforts is required.
Responsibilities:
Provides professional software or application development in various programming languages that requires primarily the application of knowledge to: (1) fundamentals and principles of artificial intelligence, information systems, networking, distributed processing, real time controls, system of systems, web, cloud, modeling, simulation, or some combination thereof; (2) computer hardware, systems software, computer system architecture and integration; (3) mathematics, including data structure, algorithms, discrete models, and modern algebra. Which pertains primarily to the research, design, development, testing, evaluation, and maintenance of software applications in an integrated manner. May lead a team of computer scientists on large and complex projects.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Shall have at a minimum eight (8) years’ experience with either Applied Research, Advanced Technology Development, or Advanced Component Development and Prototypes for tactical communication R&D efforts, as defined by the Department of Defense Financial Management Regulation.
- Shall have at a minimum 5 years of experience in the analysis, design, development, testing, and delivery of critical software applications.
- Experience designing and developing software, integrating commercial or open-source software into government R&D projects, or conducting rigorous testing of software/systems for technologies to be integrated into current or future tactical and/or strategic networks.
- Experience in developing technologies for the Army tactical networks and the associated limitations of such networks.
- Recent (within past 2 years) experience for satellite communications (SATCOM) on-the-move (OTM), in order to support the needed level of real-time, tactically-relevant information on a non-contiguous battlefield.
- Recent (within past 2 years) relevant experience directly supporting the Protected Anti-Jam Tactical SATCOM (PATS) enterprise and/or Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS)
- Hands on experience as part of this is the development of a technical test and characterization capability for SATCOM OTM systems.
