Job Description

**This is a Full Time position at 40 hours per week for a Medical Assistant with preferred Pediatric patient experience in Behavioral Health located at the Woodstock clinic.  Medical Assistant will also assist with adult patients as needed based on census.  Schedule is Monday through Friday, hours varying from 7:30a-5p.**

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is a multi-skilled worker who assumes a wide range of clinical and administrative roles within the physician office setting. Under the supervision of a Physician and/or the direction of a licensed nurse, the CMA provides direct and indirect patient care, performs laboratory and other testing, and may assist with clerical functions. The CMA serves as a key team player when interacting and communicating with patients and/or clinical staff in the ambulatory care environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of healthcare provider, assists with performing patient treatments
  • Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Documents patient care given
  • Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Maintains examination area
  • May perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, billing, and patient registration.
  • Mirroring the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner's schedule within normal clinic hours (varying from 7:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday - Friday).
  • Providing support to the adult psychiatric clinic, especially during periods of low adolescent census.
  • Managing and grading adolescent assessments, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assisting with the intake process through communicating with families and thorough collection of all necessary comprehensive information.
  • Managing incoming patient records, ensuring all necessary documentation  is accurate, up-to-date, and readily accessible for the healthcare team.
  • Rooming primarily adolescent patients, which includes gathering comprehensive medical history, vital signs, and preparing patients for appointment.
  • Managing the patient in-basket, addressing both written and phone inquiries, ensuring all patient communications are handled efficiently and with the utmost confidentiality.
  • Triaging patient calls and messages within the scope of practice, and promptly coordinating necessary care with the nursing staff as warranted to ensure timely and appropriate responses for patient needs.

Qualifications

Required: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Medical Assistant Certification
  • AHA BLS Certification Basic Life Support

Preferred:

  • Associate's degree 
  • Proficient in a second language
