Description

The University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is seeking one (1) full-time academic Anatomic Pathologist who will perform subspecialty duties in Breast Pathology with appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor, without tenure due to funding (WOT), pending experience and qualifications.

The University of Washington in collaboration with the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) has strong clinical programs in breast cancer treatment and serves as a major referral center across the WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho) region. This position involves both independent and collaborative research with clinicians and basic science investigators, utilizing general surgical pathology skills in often complicated cases, and providing advanced breast pathology expertise and services. Opportunities exist to participate on other sub-specialty diagnostic services as well as clinical informatics and molecular pathology, however, the majority of the service time will be devoted to the Breast Surgical Pathology Subspecialty. University of Washington faculty embrace a vision of excellence, collaboration and integrity. All UW faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Assistant professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This is a full-time position that is open until filled with an anticipated start date of Fall 2024, but is flexible. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank.

The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professors: $18,170 to $21,807 per month ($218,039 to $261,688 annually); Associate Professors: $21,903 to $25,696 per month ($262,831 to $308,357 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications

The candidate is expected to have expertise in Breast Pathology as well as general surgical pathology. Candidates must have an M.D., D.O., or foreign equivalent, and should be Board eligible or certified in Anatomic Pathology by date of appointment. Must qualify for a license to practice medicine in Washington state.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or foreign equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Application Instructions

Applicants should upload to Interfolio their curriculum vitae, cover letter, diversity statement [statement of past and planned contributions to diversity, equity and inclusion], and a list of three to five references addressed to Mark Kilgore, MD, Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, University of Washington, Seattle, WA 98195.
