Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa Subsidiary is hiring Fitter/Welders for our plant located in Steele, AL. As a Fitter/Welder, you’ll use jigs/holding fixtures to lay out pieces to be welded according to blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders. You’ll then use manual/semi-automatic/automatic welding equipment to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials.

What you'll do:
Repair welds
Assist with the completion of tasks to meet deadlines
Apply appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches using manual, automatic welding and/or semi-automatic welding equipment
Weld clips and hardware
Perform full penetration (such as slip joint) welds to weld ends to poles or channels
Operate grinding equipment
May lay out and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies
May position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools
Maintain quality and efficiency
Observe all standard safety practices
Perform other duties as assigned
What you'll need:
Minimum of 1 year of experience
Flux Core experience preferred
Ability to perform horizontal and vertical welds preferred
Ability to perform multi-pass welds
Ability to perform "C" (circumference) welds
Ability to maintain 90% pass rate on UT inspection
Ability to maintain good attendance
