Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience required.
Expertise in capital projects, construction technology, and budget management.
Knowledge of facilities-related local, state, and federal code and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of five years of experience in construction management required; specific experience working with community colleges preferred.
Position Description
Statement of Primary Purpose
In support of the overall mission of Isothermal Community College, it is the responsibility of the Construction Manager to lead project management related to construction, renovation, and upkeep of structures, facilities, grounds, and/or systems.

Essential Responsibilities
Plan, direct, and coordinate activities related to construction, renovation, and upkeep of structures, facilities, grounds, and/or systems.
Evaluate project specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
Participate in the conceptual development of new construction projects and/or renovation projects related to facilities and/or grounds.
Oversee organization, scheduling, and implementation of facilities projects on the College’s behalf to ensure the project is constructed in a timely, safe, and cost-effective manner.
Initiates the preparation of plans and specifications required for competitive bidding of construction, renovation, and/or repair projects necessary to the operation and support of the College.
Make recommendations regarding contracts and revisions as well as changes and additions to contractual agreements.
Ensure projects are completed and documented in accordance with contract documents and good engineering practices.
Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations.
Serve as Capital Project Coordinator (CPC) and liaison to the State Construction Office, North Carolina Community College System Office, and other pertinent regulatory authorities.
