Intern- Summer 2026
Sherwood Companies Safety Interns will receive hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of a safety professional. Interns will have the unique opportunity to work for a successful, results-driven safety department consisting of a team of board-certified safety professionals.
The Sherwood Companies internship program is a paid internship.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Reviewing daily job hazard analysis (JHA) reports.
- Reviewing the daily weather reports.
- Performing compliance inspections of the warehouse, mechanic shop and jobsites.
- Perform new-hire orientations.
- Performing safety meetings to groups of up to 100 people.
- Assisting resident safety professional with accident investigations.
- Assisting the safety department with miscellaneous tasks.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety or related field.
- Strong interest in workplace safety, environmental health, and regulatory compliance.
- Must have a basic knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
- Must be either a Junior or Senior enrolled in an Occupational Safety & Health Bachelors Program or equivalent.
- Construction experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (work with safety software systems is beneficial).
- OSHA 30-hour in Construction Card (or willingness to get a 30-hour card upon hiring).
- Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work and a valid driver’s license.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time.
- Various outdoor job sites.
- Occasional indoor work (office, warehouse, and mechanic shop).
