Kendal at Oberlin's Human Resources Department has an opening for a full-time exempt Human Resources Generalist & Benefits Specialist. This senior level position reporting to the Director of Human Resources & Operational Services will administer our benefits program consisting of health insurance, retirement accounts, as well as perform biweekly payroll preparation, policy maintenance and implementation, data/record maintenance, and statistical reporting. Further responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Compiling information for employee turnover, unemployment, Workers’ Compensation, benefit information, COBRA, FMLA, and other statistical information.
- Serving as back-up to provide facilitation of employee issues, e.g., complaints, conflicts, and emergency needs; reviewing both short- and long-range benefit cost estimates and projections relevant to the annual budget process.
- Providing back-up to the Director of Human Resources & Operational Services and the Human Resources Assistant during the orientation of newly hired employees.
- Checking/monitoring FTEs by department to assure labor budgets are maintained.
- Maintaining turnovers, disciplinary actions, wage increases, changes in benefit status and other employee changes.
- Responding to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, and civil rights complaints, partnering with the Director of Human Resources & Operational Services for guidance as needed.
- Facilitating health and wellness plans, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and COBRA notices to the Plan Benefit Manager.
- Processing required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate recordkeeping and accurate deductions.
- Creating and distributing materials for benefits orientations, open enrollments, and summary plan descriptions.
- Collaborating with the Wellness Coordinator and Wellness Specialists to create a variety of opportunities (challenges, classes, workshops, etc.) for participants to earn incentives
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Development or commensurate relevant experience in human resources generalist positions.
- Skilled in UKG Pro and payroll processing.
- Five to 10 years’ verifiable human resources work experience.
- Updated knowledge of employment law and other government compliance regulations.
- Able to coach employees and management objectively through complex, difficult, and emotional issues.
- Able to make recommendations to resolve problems or issues effectively by using judgment that is consistent with Kendal’s Value standards, practices, policies, procedures, or government regulations and law.

*The salary range for this position is $68,000-$75,000*
