As we continue to grow, we are seeking a talented and experienced Mechanical Piping Estimator to join our team.

    Job Summary: As a Mechanical Piping Estimator at the Grunau Company, you will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase, responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with HVAC, process, and industrial piping projects. This position requires a strong understanding of piping installation and fabrication processes, industry standards, and the ability to collaborate with various teams to deliver comprehensive and competitive project bids.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Project Evaluation: Review project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents to gain a thorough understanding of project requirements.
    2. Takeoffs and Quantities: Conduct accurate takeoffs and quantify materials, labor, and equipment required for piping fabrication and installation.
    3. Vendor and Subcontractor Management: Source and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services.
    4. Cost Analysis: Analyze project costs, including labor, materials, overhead, and profit margins, to develop comprehensive and competitive project bids.
    5. Bid Preparation: Prepare detailed and timely bid proposals, ensuring all relevant information is included and aligned with project specifications.
    6. Collaboration: Work closely with the project management, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure seamless communication and understanding of project requirements.
    7. Bid Presentation: Present and defend estimates to internal stakeholders and external clients as needed.
    8. Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor pricing to maintain a competitive edge.
    9. Cost Tracking: Monitor actual project costs against estimated costs, identifying areas for improvement and lessons learned for future projects.

    Qualifications:

    1. Relevant shop/field fabrication and install experience or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
    2. Proven experience as a Mechanical Piping Estimator in the construction or mechanical contracting industry.
    3. Strong understanding of welding, field install, shop fabrication processes and industry best practices.
    4. Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook), Autodesk Fabrication CADMEP or REVIT and Bluebeam.
    5. Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
    6. Effective communication and negotiation skills.
    7. Detail-oriented with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
    8. Familiarity with relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards.
