Knapp Medical Center is an award-winning, not-for-profit hospital in Weslaco, Texas. With 227 beds, the community hospital specializes in emergency care, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, wound care, surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, critical care, and interventional radiology. Knapp serves as the only acute care hospital in the Mid-Valley area, as well as Weslaco's only Level III Trauma Center, Advanced Primary Stroke Center, and Level II Newborn Nursery. Knapp has been providing quality and compassionate healthcare to Mid-Valley residents for 60 years. More than 300 physicians serve on the hospital's medical staff. Responsibilities
The Trauma Registrar will collect (abstract), enter, code and validate data for the Trauma and Stroke Registries under the direction of the Trauma Program Coordinator.� Assist with collection, formulation and tracking of emergency and trauma quality assurance, quality improvement indicators.� May also be required to prepare and assist with other reports, distribution of information throughout the hospital, filing and secretarial responsibilities as designated and assist with outreach and prevention projects as related to the Trauma and Stroke Programs.
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience
Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.Recommended: Some college or business school.Preferred: One or two years of clerical experience.Required: One year of previous health care experience, including the use of medical records and coding.Required: Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology.Required: Proficient in the use of Microsoft word programs, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, knowledge of Medical terminology.Required: Must speak, read, and write English with the ability to compose correspondence displaying good command of the English language. AAAM Course- (AIS), and ATS- (Trauma Registry) Must enroll/complete within one year of hireTTCF Course ? (Sharper Coding ICD-10) - Preferred EXPERIENCE PREFERRED CPC - Certified Professional Coder, or, CSTR ? Certified Specialist Trauma Registry
