Compliance Coordinator

Location: New Brighton, MN

The Compliance Coordinator will partner with various departments and programs throughout the company to ensure quality services are provided and to assist in the development and implementation of long-term compliance solutions.  Reporting to the Director of Compliance, this individual will be an integral part of the Compliance Team.  The compliance coordinator will serve as a representative of the Compliance Department through interactions with staff leaders at Meridian’s Minnesota-based campuses to implement, carry out, assure quality of, and report on various auditing and monitoring activities.  Your primary responsibility will be to continue to grow a best in class auditing and monitoring program that ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. 

Job Duties:

  • Monitors and reviews company activities to assess level of compliance with existing and proposed federal, state, or provider requirements. Maintains compliance documents and databases, and coordinates preparation of such documents with other departments as necessary.
  • Continuously reviews the documentation of treatment service to support the billing and ensures compliance with state and federal requirements and internal policies and procedures. Provide notification to staff in writing of missing documentation, errors, and compliance issues that requires completion or correction.
  • Prepares and present reports based on the results of internal compliance reviews and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Participates in external compliance inspections performed by state and federal regulatory personnel and/or accreditation bodies.
  • Participates in the evaluation of and response to external review findings and assists in the preparation and submission of responses to the appropriate state or federal agency. Recommend and implement required changes to internal policies and procedures or compliance monitoring per audit findings.
  • Assists with the development of new policies and procedures, as well as, the annual and periodic review of processes and policy manuals to ensure alignment with the work being done and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates monthly program reports to identify site-specific and company-wide areas of concern and opportunities for improvement.
  • Responsible for maintaining, tracking, and analyzing datasets and reports used to monitor compliance and quality activities across the sites, such as client satisfaction survey results, critical incident and medication error reports, etc.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities designed to improve quality and compliance at the sites and company-wide.
  • Provides support to the sites as needed to ensure quality and compliance. Support services include, but are not limited to specialized training, technical assistance, and/or one-on-one consultation.
  • Conducts training on HIPAA/Confidentiality, internal and external reporting requirements, policies and procedures, and other quality and compliance topics as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, behavioral science, healthcare, mental/chemical health and 2+ years’ experience in compliance and/or quality improvement OR an equivalent combination of formal education and job-related experience in the areas of compliance and/or quality improvement.

  • Experience working within MN 245G and/or CARF Accreditation, preferred
  • CHC Certification strongly preferred.
