Our school district is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Bilingual School Psychologist for the 2024-2025 school year. This pivotal role is designed to support our diverse student population, providing essential psychological services in both English and Spanish. As a Bilingual School Psychologist, you will play a critical role in assessing student needs, delivering interventions, and supporting the mental health and academic achievement of students. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, focusing on enhancing educational outcomes for bilingual students.
Responsibilities:
Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations of students in both English and [insert language] to identify learning, emotional, and behavioral needs.
Develop and implement intervention strategies and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with educators, parents, and other professionals.
Provide direct support and counseling to students facing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
Consult with teachers, administrators, and families to support the academic and social development of students, offering insights and strategies tailored to bilingual learners.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing bilingual expertise to facilitate comprehensive educational planning.
Advocate for the needs of bilingual students and work to ensure equitable access to educational resources and support.
Maintain accurate records and documentation of assessments, treatments, and communications.
Requirements
Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology or Educational Psychology from an accredited program.
Valid Illinois School Psychologist License
Proficiency in both English and Spanish, with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
Experience working with children and adolescents in a school setting, preferably with a bilingual population.
Strong understanding of cultural competency, with the ability to engage effectively with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
Demonstrated knowledge of psychological theories, assessment tools, and evidence-based practices relevant to a bilingual educational setting.
