Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assesses clients referred for substance abuse and mental health services for the purpose of treatment plan development.
  • Performs case management functions such as maintaining case records and coordinating additional services as necessary.
  • Provides individual and group counseling to program clients.
  • Provides supervision and coordination of the work of other staff members as delegated by the Clinical and/or Program Supervisor.
  • Acts as a group leader/facilitator during group counseling sessions.
  • Acts as a resource for other staff members with regard to appropriate treatment modalities, methods, and techniques to be utilized with program clients.
  • As directed, represents the Agency in matters of petition for involuntary treatment and consults with other professionals regarding addictions and mental health treatment and intervention.

Minimum Training and Experience:

  • Requires a Master's Degree in field related to Human Services, which include but not limited to: Social Work; Clinical Psychology; Counseling; Rehabilitative Counseling; Counseling Education; Education; Criminal Justice; or Ministry from an accredited college or university and at least one (1) year full-time experience in a mental health and/or addictions treatment setting or, a Bachelor's Degree in field related to Human Services, which include but not limited to: Social Work; Clinical Psychology; Counseling; Rehabilitative Counseling; Counseling Education; Education; Criminal Justice; or Ministry and certification as an Addictions Professional (CAP) by the Certification Board for Addiction Professionals of Florida. Individuals with a Bachelor's Degree in field related to Human Services and at least five (5) years of full-time experience in an addictions and/or mental health treatment setting may be considered for this position.
