About the Company:

Our client is a holding company that allocates capital to small and middle market companies. They specialize in the insurance sector, finance sector, and logistics sector. The Assistant Controller will assist with all SEC reporting and technical accounting matters for the firm.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, including preparation of footnotes and MD&A disclosures
  • Develop and support internal controls over the financial reporting process and significant transactions to ensure compliance with SOX
  • Perform US GAAP and SEC accounting research, assist in providing technical guidance regarding implementation of new accounting standards and communicate impact to stakeholders
  • Work with subsidiary directors and controllers on revenue recognition and other complex matters, including the review of technical accounting memos prepared by subsidiaries
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated analytics, disclosures, and variance analysis for senior management
  • Assist with monthly close procedures for corporate accounting and consolidation process of operating subsidiaries
  • Provide accounting and structuring guidance for transactions
  • Review initial and subsequent accounting for all company acquisitions and dispositions
  • Prepare goodwill and intangible asset impairment testing analysis and liaison with external valuation firm on purchase accounting considerations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
  • 3-7 years of experience in accounting, including technical accounting experience
  • CPA required
  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
  • Financial services industry and M&A experience a plus

Salary Range: 

$140,000-$150,000
