We are seeking a Network Support Technical Trainer Iwho is eager to share their knowledge and train employees for the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Technical Security Engineering Team at the US Department of State. This job could be your steppingstone to a new career.

With your technical expertise in the Networking field and the training we offer you from Day 1, you will be instructing students who will travel overseas to perform their duties related to national security at US embassies and consulates across the world.

Network Support Technical Trainer I performs classroom instruction based on the trainer’s area of expertise. Trainers are expected to have experience in curriculum development and delivery, familiarization with Cisco Line Interface commands, as well as five years of Tier 2 network support.

  • Designs and presents hands-on instruction, lectures, and briefings to class sizes of 6 to 24 people on the following topics:
  • Basic Computer Networking
  • LAN administration, configuration and maintenance of network communication devices
  • Administration and configuration of a Security Management Systems Enterprise
  • Administration and configuration of an IP based video surveillance system.
  • Ensures curriculum updates are completed according to policies.
  • Works closely with Instructional Design, Systems Development, Manufacturers and associated offices/departments to develop and deliver technical security system training syllabi/curriculum/ lesson plans, presentation media, administrative/self-study guides, and trainee reference manuals for technical security devices, systems and procedures in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Sets up and operates audio-visual equipment for curriculum delivery.
  • Ensures that professional development records are maintained at the conclusion of each course in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Conducts inventory of classroom equipment for training.
  • Employs applicable Department of State security standards and other procedures to protect national security information.
  • Operates U.S. government vehicles as necessary in the performance of assigned tasks.
  • Travels to U.S. and foreign training sites.
  • Exercise independent judgment and initiative daily and requires infrequent supervision
  • Recommends improvements to the training curriculum and SOP’s.
  • Work will be hybrid in nature: 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely from home; unless instructing, which is always done in person.

    Qualifications:

    Active Secret Clearance.

  • 3-4 years’ networking experience to include: installation, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance and repair of electrical systems, electronic systems, hydraulic systems, computer network equipment, installation of infrastructure, copper power, communication and signal wiring, coaxial cable and fiber optics and associated equipment
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to trainees with various degrees of technical knowledge and ability: from end user system operators, Regional Security Officers and all levels of staff.
  • Desired experience:

    2-3 years of instructing experience

    Education:

    High School Diploma or GED
