GAI Consultants Inc. is seeking a Lead Designer to support structural, mechanical, and electrical projects as part of the Power & Industry Team based in Cranberry, PA. The Lead Designer shall prepare detailed, high-quality drawings using CAD and parametric modeling tools as required.

Job Duties:

  • Interacts with engineers and clients to develop CAD models and engineering drawings to support projects within the Power & Industry Team and other teams within GAI as required.
  • Responsible for the creation of 3D computer-aided design (CAD) software models and detailed drawings.
  • Assists engineers with hands-on troubleshooting efforts and field investigations.
  • Develops layouts, engineering drawings, detailed drawings, and assembly drawings as required.
  • Performs maintenance of CAD files in response to engineering changes.
  • Interfaces with other engineers to verify that data pertaining to project specifications is documented accurately.
  • Prepares bill of materials for given design when required.
  • Occasional travel to project sites will be required (up to 10%).

  • Performs work under minimal supervision.
  • Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter.
  • May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
  • May act as a lead or first-level supervisor.
