Qualifications:

  • New York State Certification in Special Education required
  • Knowledge of Early Childhood Education, Child Development, required through completion of a Master’s Degree in Special Education
  • Minimum one year early childhood related experience to plan individual education plans to meet the special needs of each child preferred
  • Must possess a Class 5 driver’s license and be in full compliance with the standards of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law, if home visits are essential
  • Prior early childhood teaching experience with a special education preschool required.

Primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Evaluate and provide appropriate special education services to assigned children
  • Oversee activities of assigned teacher assistants and aides; communicate appropriately and in a timely manner with families of assigned children
  • Increase professional knowledge in areas relevant to children enrolled in program 

May be required to attend evening meetings
