In support of the overall Learning College the Maintenance Technician constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenter’s hand tools and power tools as well as provide assistance to other areas including but not limited to roofing, plumbing and general maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform carpentry duties including but not limited to painting, framing, remodeling, building shelves, and construction
- Maintain electrical systems
- Perform service, maintenance and repairs including but not limited to motors, lawn mowers, and other equipment, as needed
- Perform general maintenance including but not limited to moving furniture/supplies, equipment set-ups, mowing and bush-hogging
- Perform pool maintenance
- Assist with roof maintenance including but not limited to cleaning, inspections, and drains
- Assist with plumbing including but not limited to installation and repairs of all plumbing needs
- Assist in securing facilities as needed
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Maintenance and Plant Operations
Skills and Abilities
1. Develop an understanding and appreciation of the mission, history, current programs, services and goals of Isothermal Community College
2. Ability to perform routine work and basic repairs to facility
3. Knowledge of general construction, maintenance and mechanical skills
4. Ability to troubleshoot
5. Knowledge of electrical systems including adding outlets and changing ballast as needed
6. Ability to use equipment skillfully
7. Knowledge of floor and carpet maintenance
8. Ability to learn procedures and techniques
9. Ability to be self-directed and to complete work independently
10. Ability to accurately receive information and make sound decisions
11. Ability to understand and following instructions
