POSITION SUMMARY:

The Occupational Therapist position on our Early Support for Infants & Toddlers (ESIT) team will have the opportunity to help us develop and scale a best-in-class Early Intervention program for infants and toddlers ages 0-3. This position will provide sensory processing and play-based therapy to children in their natural environment, including their homes, classrooms, and other community locations. This position will work collaboratively with internal and external partners to ensure the needs of young children and their families are being met with excellence.

This position has access to protected healthcare information (PHI) or confidential identifiable information (CII), both paper and electronic, as necessary, to perform related job duties and responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Evaluates, assesses, and provides motor therapy to children from birth to age 2
  • Collaborates with the Early Intervention team, Family Resource Coordinators (FRCs), and Akin program staff on interdisciplinary IFSPs, goal setting, and case review
  • Maintains documentation of case records and ensure compliance with Part C and other policies
  • Communicates with insurance providers, school districts, and other outside resources as needed
  • Engages and empowers parents in all individual and group sessions, providing training and support that allow them to meet the needs of their children
  • Participates in the development of individualized goals for child and family
  • Provides coaching and consultation for staff, parents, and care providers
  • Demonstrates a caring, nonjudgmental, equity-minded approach to working with every family
  • Prepares reports and progress notes as required by Akin
  • Attends team meetings relating to each child’s programs and progress
  • Schedules minimum number of therapy hours as established by therapy department policy
  • Attends regular staff meetings relating to each child’s programs and progress; attend regular staff and department meetings
  • Schedules minimum number of therapy hours as established by therapy department policy
  • Continues to develop professional skills and knowledge (e.g., conferences, coursework, review literature, participation in professional associations, interdepartmental observations, etc.)
  • Participates in professional development opportunities regarding antiracism, oppression, and cultural competency, and assess own performance and program for related improvements
  • Complies with Akin policies and procedures regarding the identification and reporting of child abuse
  • Other duties as assigned

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This position cover various locations in South King County, including: Auburn, Federal Way, Des Moines, and Kent.

At this time, services are being provided both in person and via teleintervention.

WORKING REMOTELY:

Working remotely is a benefit of Akin’s flexible workplace, but remote work cannot be offered for all positions. Some positions require daily presence in the office. Remote work arrangements may be adjusted or rescinded based upon business needs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard; occasionally to reach, stoop and kneel

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, licensed by Washington State
  • Experience working with children ages 0-3
  • Experience interacting with diverse populations
  • Pass a portable background check through Department of Early Learning
  • Pass a tuberculosis (TB) test or have negative test within 12 months prior to hire
  • Current in Pediatric/Adult CPR, first aid, and AED, HIV, and bloodborne pathogens
  • Valid WA State driver’s license and automobile insurance, and able to use own vehicle for the job

Salary Range and Benefits:

The salary Range for this position is $72,700 - $95,300 annually

Employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 10 days of vacation leave each year, one personal day each year, and will accrue one sick day per month (pro-rated for part-time employees). Employees will also enjoy 14 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.  We also offer EAP and mental health benefits.
