Thomas Cuisine is hiring a Receiving Clerk/Prep Cook in at Lutheran Home Senior Living in Arlington Heights!

The Store Room Receiving Coordinator ensures efficiency in the acquisition, storage, and distribution of our supply chain including food and non-food items and other food services-related materials. Receives, stocks, and distributes supplies and materials to proper departments and/or areas in a timely manner. Inventories and replenishes user area stock. Reports variances to department manager including damages, defects, and missing items.

This position is located at 800 W Oakton, Arlington Heights, IL at Lutheran Home Senior Living.

Prior experience with kitchen storeroom stock and inventory preferred.

Note this is an active position, walking, standing, lifting, temperature changes in freezer and cooler.

Cook experience a bonus!!

Wage $16.00 to $18.00/hour starting rate bases on experience; full benefits, PTO/vacation time, wellness program, and much more!

Monday - Friday; 7A-3P-some rotational weekend and holiday shifts could be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper receiving and storage of all food and supplies
  • Assists with unloading and verifying purchased food and supply shipments into the kitchen against requisitions and invoices
  • Corrects and/or notifies vendors and supervisors of errors at the time of delivers
  • Place orders away properly, using the FIFO system, in the designated areas.
  • Keeps storerooms clean, organized and free of clutter
  • Ensures all items in storage areas are properly labeled and dated according to policy
  • Daily cleaning and organizing of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and freezers. Ensures food storage areas shelves are clean and stocked by front-facing, checking dates, labels, rotating and removing out-of-date products.
  • Monitors products on hand and makes managers and cooks aware of any items nearing expiration to be utilized in operation
  • Monitors product usage for appropriate par levels.
  • Daily physical inventory and ordering of foods and supplies
  • Inventory management tasks assist with inventory counts, product ordering & end of the monthly process
  • Immediately reports safety hazards
  • Maintain and promote a friendly and approachable attitude towards the client, guests, and staff
  • Communicate clearly and openly with all staff members for overall success

Job Skills:

  • Ability to learn basic knowledge of all products carried in department
  • Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness
  • Proactively reads labels and familiarizes oneself with various products
  • Ability to perform simple math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
  • Strong to excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team
  • Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectable manner to fellow Team Members, customers, and vendors
  • Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions with customers, vendors, and Team Members
  • Ability to follow directions and procedures; effective time management and organization skills

  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking 6-8 hours
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, tug carts, and other heavy machinery
  • Pass a background check and Drug Screen
