Set-up and operate Torrington mechanical and Herdon CNC coiling and wire forming machines to produce compression, extension, wire form and torsion spring parts.
REPORTING TO
Manufacturing Manager
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Set-up spring coiling or wire forming machines in order to produce quality parts conforming to given specifications
Read and follow print, design sheet, and work order for product specifications and instructions
Perform quality checks on parts using micrometers, calipers, load testers, comparators, and other inspection instruments
Complete and maintain all quality records
Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of our Quality Management System (QMS) and other regulatory requirements
Maintain a clean and safe work area and update supplies as needed
Adhere and comply with the company safety procedures and overall company policies
Perform other related duties and activities as assigned based on peak workloads
SKILLS and ABILITIES
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
Using logic and reasoning to identify solutions to problems
Ability to read and interpret part specifications or blueprints
Basic math and recording abilities
Strong attention to detail and time management skills
Working knowledge of computer programs for entering data
Great organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing dynamics
Solid understanding of health and safety regulations
Experience in operating forklifts (sit down) a plus
Ability to utilize scales that measure in grams and pounds a plus
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent preferred and/or skill trade.
6 months – 2 years of previous experience in spring coiling machine set-up and operation and/or equivalent machine in manufacturing setting preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Warehouse environment where temperature ranges based on seasonal weather
Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, pull, and push with hands and arms, reach overhead, and talk or hear
Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, balance, kneel, and reach
Occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh up to 50 lbs.
Occasionally required to sit
Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, etc.
