We are seeking a dedicated School Physical Therapist to join our educational teams across Illinois. This pivotal role involves providing physical therapy services to students with diverse abilities within the school setting. The successful candidate will work closely with students to improve their physical capacities and enhance their participation in school activities. By collaborating with educators, parents, and other professionals, the School Physical Therapist plays a critical role in supporting the overall educational and developmental goals of the students.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate students' motor skills and physical abilities to assess their functional performance within the school environment.
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans that aim to improve students' strength, mobility, and coordination.
  • Collaborate with special education staff to integrate physical therapy goals with educational objectives and student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Provide direct therapy interventions and support, adapting techniques to meet the needs of each student.
  • Educate and train school staff, students, and families on strategies to enhance students' physical capabilities and safety.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to discuss and plan student care and educational strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of therapy sessions, assessments, and progress reports in compliance with school district policies and state regulations.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
Valid Illinois state license to practice as a Physical Therapist.
Experience working with children in a school setting or related field is preferred.
Strong understanding of the principles and practices of physical therapy, especially as they relate to children and adolescents.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with school staff effectively, students, and parents.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to implement comprehensive therapy services.
