Wilson & Company Inc. is seeking a skilled and Licensed Professional Land Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will be able to lead a team, manage project budgets, assign work to staff and manage production deadlines.  While overseeing surveys and the production of deliverables, ensuring the integrity of quality. The Licensed Professional Land Surveyor will work on various projects, collaborating with engineering teams to provide essential surveying data.

Key Responsibilities: The ideal candidate will be able to satisfy a majority of the following tasks, and necessary skills to perform.

  • Nebraska Professional Surveying license, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date.
  • Ability to supervise multiple field crews.
  • Excellent Leadership skills.
  • Ability to create and assist with proposals and key pursuits.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and construction teams to provide essential surveying data for project planning and their execution.
  • Plan and schedule field surveys, ensuring that survey activities align with project timelines and client requirements.
  • Manage and allocate resources, including surveying equipment and personnel, to ensure efficient and timely completion of surveys.
  • Proficient in Boundary Retracement Surveys.
  • Full understanding of field calculations.
  • Ability to complete deed research.
  • Higher knowledge of computer software.
  • Knowledge of Survey Coordinate Systems.
  • Ability to perform calibrations and adjustments.
  • Responsible for geodetic control network adjustment and other surveying office tasks.
  • Monitor progress of survey activities, identify potential delays or issues, and provide regular updates to project teams and clients.
  • Ensure that surveys are conducted in accordance with industry standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement quality assurance measures to maintain the highest standards of accuracy in surveying data.
  • Maintain accurate records of survey data, field notes, and related documentation. Prepare reports for compliance and reporting purposes.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements in surveying technology, and changes in regulations affecting land surveying.
  • Interact with clients to understand their surveying needs, address inquiries, and provide updates on survey progress.
  • Train and supervise surveying staff as needed, ensuring that they adhere to best practices and safety standards.
  • Identify potential challenges or obstacles in the surveying process and proactively implement solutions to overcome them.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization of surveying procedures.

Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in using surveying instruments and technologies, such as total stations, Lidar platforms, sUAV, GPS, and GIS software.
  • Understanding of land laws, property rights, and legal principles related to surveying.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills..
  • Ability to identify and solve problems related to surveying challenges.
  • Project management skills to effectively plan and execute surveying projects, including time management and resource allocation.

Company Overview:

Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects, a national multi-disciplined surveying, and engineering firm, seeks a full time Survey Operations Manager for their Omaha Office to manage projects and staff. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, and able to work in a team environment and should possess qualifications with experience managing projects and human capital.  Have a minimum of five years of experience in the land survey field with duties to include project management, field crew & office staff supervision, client interaction and client relationship management experience.  Position requires Nebraska surveyor licensure or ability to obtain within 6 months. Extensive experience with boundary and cadastral surveys is preferred. Preference will be given to those candidates meeting qualifications of a current survey licensure within Nebraska.

Annual Salary Range: $65,000 - $95,000
