SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Lead team members in fuel control unit assembly and test, all sub-assemblies and other related operations for the fabrication of turbine engine components. Coordinate with engineers and management on manufacturing improvements. Assure that parts and components are manufactured to meet production planning, company quality, and cost requirements.
- Conduct design/analysis assignments of Fuel control units and test procedures, analysis of engineering problems and development of significant criteria to support fuel control units design concepts and feasibility.
- Prepare layouts and make calculations related to product design and analysis. Prepping of engineering computer programs and evaluation of program output applicable to production assignments. Generating and proofing NC programs for gantry laser cutting machines.
- Collect first article inspection requirements for new part revisions to ensure design changes are implemented
- Initiate scrap reduction efforts through improved tooling design, written operator instructions, and corrective action resolutions. Generate and track corrective actions to enhance productivity and reduce scrap of the entire assembly and test area. Continuously improving planning instructions, tooling, gauges and equipment to facilitate production labor.
- Report nonconforming parts via internal quality tracking system to monitor trends and recommend solutions to reoccurring discrepancies.
- Lead identification of quality escapes and isolation of suspect lots to implement corrective actions and updates to process instructions.
- Oversee all machined components and sub-assemblies on complicated jobs to prepare for final fabrication, assembly and test of Fuel control units.
- Plan, organize and present classroom and practical on-the-job trainings in accordance with approved course outlines for the certification of Soldering Operators (per J-STD-001), Crimp Assembly Operators, Test operators and Laser machining Operators.
- Review weekly performance metrics to determine schedules based on available human and capital resources. Responsible for generating and evaluating performance metrics as FPY, Machine efficiency, CA effectiveness.
- Present monthly quality and part delivery status to executive management to demonstrate results of ongoing process improvement programs.
- Develop Fuel control assembly and other assembly and test engineering procedures and specifications relevant to engineering assignments. Advise other Engineering & Production personnel regarding test requirements, procedures, product specifications, etc. Assist in the evaluation of results.
- Participate in the preparation of engineering proposals by compiling or providing technical data and drawings. Prepare and submit various reports related to the assignment.
- Assure employee compliance with the various computerized systems on the factory floor, such as, On-line Quality Reporting (OQR), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Factory Data Collection (FDC), and other similar programs.
- Evaluate and review engineering drawings and designs for production and manufacturing.
- Assure work areas are free of safety hazards and employees are working with proper PPE (glasses, gloves, etc.) as required by our procedures. Conducts safety audits.
- Evaluate process failure mode risk levels across several Assembly and test production operations (PFMEA). Mitigate risks by incorporating new systems and practices as needed.
- Oversee design and layout of manufacturing cells to maximize throughput.
M-F 40 hrs./wk. 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree (U.S. or Foreign) in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or a Related Field. 2 years of turbine engine engineering experience. 2 years of experience in turbine engine design, cellular manufacturing, processes, engineering, and quality systems. 2 years of experience in aerospace level operation of CNC lasers, CNC Lathes and Mills to create parts at tight tolerances for turbine engines. 2 years of experience with turbine engine assembly and testing and aerospace welding and soldering. 2 years of experience using SAP enterprise resource planning software, Product Vision Database software, NX 11 modeling software, Cimx and OQR software. 2 years' experience using Geometrical dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) knowledge.
