Job Description

As the Senior Director of Cost, Working Capital, & Contract Negotiations, you will play a vital role in managing and optimizing our supplier costs through robust cost management projects and contract negotiations.  Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing strategies to effectively project and manage supplier cost performance in should cost, drive projects to improve supplier impact on working capital, and create a best-in-class contract negotiations play book.  The contract negotiation playbook will ensure supplier cost, risks, and saving opportunities are part of supplier contract negotiations.  You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive improvements, lead change management, streamline processes, and enhance financial & business performance.

  • Single Source of Truth on Spending and Saving:  Provide consistent data and calculations for supplier should cost spending & savings for each supplier and commodity group to support regular analytics and projections.  Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure data and projections are accurate and complete.
  • Procurement Cost Outlook: Govern the Direct Material (DM) Cost Management Process across each business vertical in Western Digital, and partner with finance on cost and savings projections.  Ensure DM commodity teams understand and follow the process for regular cost projections and support cost variance analytics.
  • Cost model: Execute cost model for all services and items Western Digital purchases to ensure spend is appropriately forecasted.  Ensure the majority of spend is covered and compliant within cost model.  Proactively work and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including commodity managers and finance to increase fidelity of cost projections.
  • Working Capital Improvements:  You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure suppliers are contributing towards Western Digital’s working capital initiatives.  This includes leading a cross-functional team to identify actions to improve working capital, develop program plans and measure results.
  • Contract Negotiation & Management:  Create a best-in-class Contract Negotiations Play Book to ensure cost risks and saving opportunities are part of supplier negotiations.  Create a contract repository with a robust Supplier On-Boarding and Off-Boarding processes.
  • Team Leadership: Ability to lead and work with teams remotely, across multiple time zones, with a proven track record of achieving results, meeting commitments, and mentoring others to exceed their expectations.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, procurement, sourcing, commodity managers, business units, and operations, to align on cost projects, recovery plans, and contract execution to drive performance improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a supplier cost management strategic plan that aligns with the company's overall business goals.
  • Assess and prioritize supplier cost risks and opportunities and develop plans to improve or sustain performance.
  • Identify, collaborate, and implement tools to help expedite working capital, should cost projections, and improvement plans highlighting areas that need attention.
  • Lead change management efforts to ensure that all stakeholders are on board with the initiatives and supplier cost projections and improvement plans.
  • Work with applicable stakeholders to measure impact of actions taken.
  • Program manage risk mitigation and recovery plans to ensure actions achieve a high say-do ratio.
  • Collaboratively design, implement, and deploy a Best-In-Class Contract Negotiation and Risk Mitigation Playbook and work with key stakeholders to get it fully deployed and then measure its effectiveness.
  • Provide insights to the business on how to improve supplier relationships.

Qualifications

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in business management or supply chain with demonstrated financial acumen, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).

· Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of driving results and program managing cross-functional initiatives.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

· Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing strategies to mitigate risks and improve financial performance.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and identify areas for improvement.

  • An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
  • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York.  This range may be modified in the future.
  • You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance.  Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan. Please note that not all roles are eligible to participate in the LTI program, and not all roles are eligible for equity under the LTI plan. RSU awards are also available to eligible new hires, subject to Western Digital’s Standard Terms and Conditions for Restricted Stock Unit Awards.
