Position Summary:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the production, product quality and safety within an assigned weld bay with approximately 18 direct reports. The supervisor will communicate with welders/fitters and others within the organization to achieve all organizational goals in a timely manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
(Including the following, however, additional duties may apply as required)
- Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner
- Schedule production activities and maintain inventory to increase production and quality
- Supervise and provide leadership, coaching, guidance, training, and staff development
- Participate in interviews and selection of employees for assigned bay. Evaluate employee performance; counsel and discipline employees as necessary and monitors time and attendance
- Ensure departmental goals of safety, quality, productivity, utilization, cost and delivery are met
- Create and maintain atmosphere of trust and positive morale
- Develop detailed production plan
- Set departmental production milestones and meet or exceed through creating and supporting a culture of accountability
- Ability to effectively communicate and promote active listing in small to medium groups of diverse backgrounds and various levels of management
- Develop daily standard work and SOP’s for manufacturing
- Lead root cause analysis and countermeasure implementation by using a structured problem solving process
- Manage and Develop Staff and all associates to maximize their contribution to the success of the business and develop their talent and career potential to the fullest extent possible
- Dynamic leadership resulting in improved operational performance through daily management, Gemba walks, providing feedback, mentoring next-level leadership
- Directing and controlling assigned work force through strong communication skills
- Participate in Continuous Improvement projects and Kaizen events
Education and Experience
- High school diploma required. Technical degree and/or welding certifications preferred
- Ability to read blueprints
- Must have knowledge and experience of metal fabrication and welding techniques (hardwire, metal-core, flux-core & sub-arc); and large open table set-ups
- Work well in a fast-paced environment, have excellent problem solving skills, and be able to multitask on a variety of projects
- Previous supervisory experience required
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing OR Six Sigma methodologies a plus
