Position: Production Planner
Department: Production Planning and Control
Primary Objective of Position:
The Production Planner is responsible for creating, organizing, guiding and scheduling production. Provides resource analysis, detailed manufacturing schedules and production plans. Carries out studies and projections to avoid bottlenecks while monitoring the production process in order to optimize capacity, utilization and quality.
Major Areas of Accountability:
- Responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining summary schedules to meet customer demand.
- Acts as primary information conduit between operations and commercial departments.
- Performs schedule analysis such as critical path identification, schedule risk identification, and variance investigation.
- Performs capacity monitoring and analysis to identify and resolve capacity constraints using proven industry best-practices such as level-loading, expediting, and outsourcing.
- Proactively identifies and manages the resolution of critical schedule issues.
- Leads resolution of urgent product manufacturing issues to support master schedule
- Integrates, maintains and analyzes primary data related to project backlog and history.
- Compiles and analyzes Key Performance and Visual Management Indicators.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Operations, Business, or similar; or equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrated competency strength in initiative, problem solving, customer service, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Three to Five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office products (focus on Excel), proficiency preferred.
- Familiar with MRP software, SAP strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed in both an office and manufacturing environment. Requires the ability to routinely move throughout the office and manufacturing facility to perform work.
- Requires the ability to routinely lift up to 15 lbs .
- Requires the ability to ascend and descend stairs daily to reach all areas of the manufacturing facility.
