Job Summary

The Senior Corporate Accountant with be responsible for corporate accounting functions for residential, senior living, and hotel management companies within a complex ownership structure.   

Your Impact and Job Responsibilities

  • Accounting: You will contribute to the daily and monthly accounting activities including posting journal entries, completing bank reconciliations, overseeing various cost allocations, and completing various month end close processes.
  • GL Presentation: You will meet with department leaders on a monthly basis and discuss their actual vs. budget variances. You will assist in making corrections, discussing solutions for miscoded actuals, and notate potential reforecasts.
  • Audit Support: You will assist with the preparation of audit work papers. You will implement changes in your process to prepare your reconciliations in a format ready to turn into auditors at year-end.
  • Tech Support:  You will be the “go-to” for all GL software maintenance and Concur expense coding, including Yardi accounting software and Concur expense software. You will work with the IT and BI departments to implement changes and ensure they’re accurate.
  • Relationship Management: You’ll interact professionally with internal management and various corporate departments to resolve issues.
  • Process Improvement:  You will support the team’s efforts for improving processes, streamline workflow and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
  • Overall:  You’ll be an excellent teammate who helps create and deliver departmental and organizational goals, including refining and introducing new Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).

 What You’ll Bring- Desired Skills and Experience

  • You have some credentials. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, preferably in accounting.  CPA certification or CPA candidate is a strong plus! 
  • You’ve “been there, done that”. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of three (3) years of accounting experience, and has demonstrated knowledge of public and real estate accounting. Strong financial reporting skills are also a part of your background.
  • You’re a great communicator. You easily manage relationships and build rapport with others, and you have skill at connecting with residents, managers, and executives.  You also excel at keeping everyone informed and on the same page both in verbal and written communications.
  • You’re a numbers person. You understand company financials and financial metrics for success, and you are a whiz at making sure that budgets are complete and on track.
  • You’re efficient. You possess an extreme sense of urgency and are dedicated to completing work with extreme attention to detail and in accordance with company standards and policies. You look for room for improvement in manual and less-efficient tasks.
  • You like change; you really like change. You can easily adapt as the situation warrants, and you are able to focus on multiple deadlines and change as the demands and fast pace requires. 
  • You’re ethical.  You are transparent, and you know how to work within a company’s standards and comply with federal/state regulations.
  • You’re very tech savvy. You’d consider yourself an advanced user of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and Outlook. Experience with Yardi accounting software and Adaptive Planning budgeting software experience is a strong plus!
