Summary:
The Village of Lincolnwood, Illinois (13,483 – 2020 census) is seeking a Community Development Intern to perform research involving a variety of public administration projects. Reporting to the Planning and Economic Development Manager, the Community Development Intern will assist with the completion of projects in the areas of planning, economic development, building and zoning.
Essential Duties:
The position is expected to assist with the administration of the Community Development Department and to provide support for ongoing activities. The duties of the position include undertaking and preparing research, minute-taking, participation in committees, preparation of presentations,, webmaster for the Department’s webpages, and serving as an ombudsman for the Department. The Intern is expected to provide research and develop documents for consideration by various bodies including the Economic Development Commission, Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree and be working toward a Master's Degree from an accredited College or University in Urban Planning/Studies, Geography, Public Administration, or related fields. The successful candidate will possess the following characteristics and abilities: excellent attention to detail, ability to communicate well, make appropriate decisions using sound judgment, the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and stakeholders, ability to work outside in various environmental conditions, and ability to write reports, minutes, memoranda, directives, and letters.
Hours and Compensation
This is a part-time position that requires a candidate who can work an average of 20 hours per week. The position is paid $19.80 per hour This position is classified as a non-exempt, non-union, part-time position.
