TITLE: Professional Learning Communities (PLC Leadership)/PD Cadre (5 Positions)

LOCATION:  Urbana Middle School

SUPERVISOR: The building principal and the Office of Professional Development will evaluate this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Under the direction of the principal, collaborate with the building administrative team, building school improvement team, and other building leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with the building principal/administrative team to lead building-level monthly professional development during staff meetings and/or Staff Development Days.
  • Communicate positively and clearly with administrators, school improvement team members, classroom teachers, and Central Office personnel.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and privacy of individual teachers and building team members.
  • Attend and participate in district summer professional development opportunities to build leadership
  • Attend building PLC district meetings as needed for planning, additional training, support, and resources.
  • Attend Program Council meetings 
  • Support building and district professional development initiatives.
  • Introduce teachers to new research-based methods, materials, and instructional strategies supporting Building PLCs and CLCs.
  • Lead and champion professional development and instructional methods that support Core, Tier I, Tier 2/Tier 3 academics and behavior
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of building-level professional development and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Other duties as necessary to strengthen PLC initiatives in the building

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven commitment to professional development and reflective practices
  • Ability to lead professional development activities at the building level
  • Ability to form strong professional relationships with colleagues
  • Ability to lead professional development activities in collaboration with the principal/administrative team and members of the school improvement team
  • Ability to lead professional development activities to support Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and Classroom Learning Communities (CLCs)
  • Current USD #116 Certified Employee

LICENSES/CREDENTIAL: Current Illinois Professional Educator License 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:This is a stipend-position paid at the rate of pay of $1500 from Section 22.01 of the CBA. This is at least a one-year commitment for the 2024-2025 school year. 

START:  August 13, 2024

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of professional personnel. 

NOTE: This is a position within the collective bargaining unit and is not an administrative position.
