The Department of Neurological Surgery is looking to hire four Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) in the Teaching Associate faculty title (ARNP or PA credentials).

The Inpatient/Outpatient Neurological Surgery Advanced Practice Providers (APP) are members of the interdisciplinary team that includes attending physicians, fellows, and residents, providing care to patients and families across the continuum of care for patients treated in Neurological Surgery. The successful applicant(s) will be responsible for providing services independently and collaboratively with appropriate privileges, including initial and ongoing assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of the patient’s medical and psychosocial status. These are a Teaching Associate position in the Department of Neurological Surgery. The APP for the Department of Neurological Surgery is responsible for comprehensive outpatient and acute inpatient care, including neurosurgical, endocrine, and internal medicine management. These are an FTE (Full time) position with four 10-hour shifts per week and weekend coverage for the UW Montlake and Northwest campuses, there is no call for this position, and there are no surgical responsibilities. 

The Department of Neurological Surgery at UW Montlake and Northwest campuses provides patient care services for a broad range of neurological diseases and disorders. The Department is also the primary referral center for patients with complex neurological conditions in the five state WWAMI region, as well as the tertiary referral center for national and international patients. In addition, the Department has one of the premier academic training programs in the world and maintains an active, cutting-edge research program ranging from basic science and translational research to a broad array of clinical trials. The base salary range for these positions will be $10,000 - $12,834 per month ($120,000 - $154,008 per year), commensurate with experience, discipline, and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Our salaries are bench marked based on the AAMC scale. Other compensation associated with this position may or may not include Startup, Relocation Incentive/Moving Allowance Administrative supplement for a defined administrative role, or Productivity Incentive.

Teaching associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1 - June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.   

The Anticipated start date is June 1, 2024.

Qualifications

Masters Degree (or foreign equivalent) in nursing from an accredited school of nursing AND Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License with prescriptive privileges. 

OR Physician Assistant: Licensure as a Physician's Assistant in the State of Washington with national certification from a national certifying body (NCCPA). Applicant must be eligible to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership by the Organized Medial Staff of the hospital under Medical Staff By-Laws for hospital-based positions and ACLS certification.
