The Department of Radiology in the School of Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle is seeking applications for one full-time Teaching Associate, ARNP or PA-C, in the Interventional Radiology (IR) section with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024. Teaching associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms.  Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The University of Washington Interventional Radiology section covers five sites (the University of Washington Medical Center – Montlake Campus, Harborview Medical Center, Veteran's Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and the University of Washington Medical Center - Northwest Campus). It has an affiliate agreement for IR training with Seattle Children's Hospital. This position will collaborate with an inter-professional team, including established APPs and Interventional Radiologists and care teams, to provide high-quality, safe, patient- and family-centered care in a premier institution.The APP will support the outpatient clinic practice which sees many complex, multisystem conditions inclusive of, but not limited to: arterial disease, venous disease, lymphatic disease, oncology, renal failure, transplant, biliary intervention, and urinary intervention. They will join a nurse practitioner in providing longitudinal comprehensive pre and post-procedural care. The successful candidate will act as a departmental contact person responsible for triaging, problem-solving, and ensuring timely service to patients and clinicians. 

This position will have opportunities to perform image-guided procedures, inlcuding central venous access, paracentesis, thoracentesis, and tissue biopsies.  The APP will also participate in quality improvement projects and process improvement activities, as well as participate in and support the Department’s education, research, and quality initiatives.  Teaching Associates also provides education and mentorship to fellow team members, staff, residents, fellows, nurses, and students.  This individual will be well versed in UWMC CPOE/EPIC and follow UWMC Professional Behavior Policy and Procedures.  All UW faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

The base salary range for this position will be: $10,834 - $14,426 per month ($130,008 - $173,112 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.  This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University.  Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations.  Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.  This position is incentive eligible through the physicians practice plan.

Qualifications

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Graduate Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program
  • Current and valid state Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nursing Licensure for ARNP or Physician Assistant licensure for PA-C
  • Nationally certified ARNP/PA with DEA
  • Highly reliable, a flexible provider with proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment
  • Effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in the care of patients
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Basic computer knowledge and command of basic personal computer skills
