Description
A full-time Postdoctoral Scholar position is available on an annual 12- month appointment in the Wang Lab at the Department of Pharmaceutics at the University of Washington (https://sop.washington.edu/department-of-pharmaceutics/). The anticipated start date is September 1, 2023. The Department is internationally renowned for excellence in research and training in the areas of pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, drug transport, and drug delivery. Through work that span from molecular, cell- and organ-based studies in humans and animal models, research conducted at the Department focuses on understanding the processes that determine the exposure and pharmacological response to drugs and other xenobiotics. The highly collegial Department faculty, students, post-doctoral fellows and staff pursue these multidisciplinary and translational goals through collaborations within University of Washington and with national and international institutions.
The Postdoctoral Scholar will be engaging in an exciting NIH-funded center to focus on the identification, quantification, characterization, and cellular distribution of membrane transporters in human placenta and other tissues important for early human development and exposure to drugs and nutrients. Work will involve tissue processing, RNA-seq and bioinformatic analysis, cDNA subcloning and development of stable cell lines, functional analysis of membrane transporters, and immunolocalization work.
The successful candidate will work closely with the PI and collaborators in a highly collaborative environment. They will plan and perform experiments, write manuscripts, and participate in and present research findings at local and national meetings. Some other tasks such as coordination with co-investigators, mentoring graduate students, tissue sample transport, and ordering lab supplies will be expected.
The salary for this position will be $5,459 to $5,875 per month ($65,508 to $70,500 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This is a grant-funded 12-month appointment renewable for up to three years provided funding availability and performance.
Postdoctoral scholars are represented by UAW 4121 and are subject to the collective bargaining agreement, unless agreed exclusion criteria apply. For more information, please visit the University of Washington Labor Relations website.
