Job Details:

We are seeking a full-time child and adolescent clinical or pediatric psychologist to meet the behavioral health needs of youth, and their families, who are admitted to the SCH’s inpatient pediatric services. The psychologist will work primarily as part of Psychiatry Consultation/Liaison Service providing direct clinical care as well as working closely with other members of the subspecialty teams to optimize clinical outcomes. The C/L team includes child psychiatrists, child psychiatry fellows, child psychologists, psychology residents, advanced practice nurses, a team mental health therapist, and a case manager. Common referral problems include anxiety related to medical diagnoses or procedures, persistent abdominal pain, functional neurological disorders, altered mental status/delirium, eating disorders, and suicide risk evaluations. The C/L psychologist will also provide consultation and collaborate closely with other members of the subspecialty teams to deliver care in service of optimal outcomes. In addition, the psychologist will spend one day a week working with the outpatient Mood and Anxiety Program.

The successful candidate will engage in a wide range of clinical activities in a variety of medical settings with a multi-disciplinary medical care team and with patients experiencing acute and chronic health care challenges.

While this position is primarily clinical in nature, opportunities may exist for candidates who will either bring ongoing funded research activities to Seattle Children’s, or who intend to build an active clinical research program (research activities would not exceed 0.2-0.3 FTE). Modest research start-up support may be available depending on the applicant’s interests and qualifications. In addition to collaborations with faculty in the C/L and MAP programs, there are also opportunities for collaboration with psychologists/psychiatrists working with a wide range of children’s mental health issues around research, training and cross-specialty interventions. In addition, the psychologist would participate in family and community-oriented education and collaborate in program development. They will also have the opportunity to serve as a clinical supervisor in our University of Washington APA-accredited psychology internship program.
