The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is hiring for a full-time Assistant Professor (WOT) without tenure by the reason of funding position, to serve as an Obstetrics and Gynecology physician in our Generalist Division. This position has a 12 months service period (July 1 - June 30) with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024. This position will also be responsible for direct patient care in general obstetrics and gynecology and will have ample opportunities for scholarly work in education, Quality Improvement QI and/or research. This individual will work in an ambulatory clinic site with a diverse patient population and in L&D and the OR with medical students and residents and will participate in resident and medical student education including clinical teaching, didactics, simulation activities, and QI/Patient safety. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding communication skills and administrative work and leadership within an academic setting, and in team-based care, and establish an excellent record of clinical service. The successful candidate will be expected to provide care at multiple sites and to take night and weekend call and provide high-quality, compassionate care to a diverse patient population and the successful candidate will be expected to engage in excellent education, leadership, mentorship and research consistent with the academic mission of the University of Washington.

Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Candidates will be expected to provide medical services at the University of Washington affiliated hospitals, train residents and medical students, and make academic contributions to the field.

The base salary range for this position will be: $19,167 - $25,000 per month ($230,004 - $300,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent
  • Board eligibility or certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology or foreign equivalent
  • 1 year or more experience in managing complex gynecologic referrals including surgical proficiency in both laparoscopy and open procedures
  • 1 year or more experience in obstetric and gynecologic emergencies and trauma 

All candidates must be eligible for and able to maintain a Washington State medical license. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
