Description

The Department of Medicine, University of Washington (UW) is recruiting a full-time faculty transplant hepatologist to join the Division of Gastroenterology based at University of Washington Medical Center. This position will be a full-time (1.0 FTE) Assistant or Associate Professor, without tenure by reason of funding (WOT), specalizing in the management of Hepatology diseases and disorders.  Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. We anticipate a start date of July 2024.

The successful candidate for this position will have the opportunity to be involved in clinical, basic or translational research in transplant hepatology as supported by extramural funding.  The successful candidate will participate in clinical care of gastroenterology patients, including providing inpatient and outpatient hepatology consultative services and endoscopy services. Teaching responsibilities would involve oversight of medical students, residents, and fellows during outpatient and inpatient clinical activities, in concert with the GI and Transplant Hepatology Fellowship program. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments and associate professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that both align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The base salary range for this position will be: $18,750- $21,500 per month ($225,000- $258,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may include Monthly Additional Compensation (MAC) with a range of: $3,000-$6,000 per month ($36,000- $72,000 annually). This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications

Candidates should have an MD (or foreign equivalent), board certification (or foreign equivalent) in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology and must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent, as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
