Description

The Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine at the University of Washington, School of Medicine is recruiting a full-time Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor level (without tenure due to funding) to serve as Director of the Echocardiography Lab at UW Medical Center Northwest. The UWMC-Northwest echocardiography lab performs, TTE, TEE, exercise and dobutamine stress, strain, 3D, and microbubble contrast studies for patients from across the UW Echo system. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments and Associate Professor and Full Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that all align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. The anticipated start date will be May 1, 2024 or after. 

The successful candidate will take a leading role in quality assurance and echo lab operations and will work with the leadership team of UW Echocardiography in the Section of Cardiac Imaging, alongside nationally prominent cardiac imagers and a team of expert sonographers. They will be involved in imaging education activities and will have opportunities for cardiac imaging research and scholarship within the Division of Cardiology and the Clinical Trials Research Unit. They will also attend on the inpatient Cardiology services at UW Medical Center Northwest and Montlake with teaching of fellows and residents. The successful candidate will be expected to provide effective leadership and support the department's commitment to patient care, scholarship and medical education.  

The base salary range for this position will be $16,250-$33,333 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may include an administrative salary supplement (ADS), moonlighting opportunities, and incentive through UW Physicians practice plan.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and be board certified and eligible in Cardiology (or foreign equivalent) and Transthoracic, Transesophageal, and Stress Echocardiography (through the National Board of Echocardiography) and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington. Level III training in echocardiography, as defined by the ACC/AHA/ASE, is necessary. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
