Description

The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Genetic Medicine at University of Washington is recruiting a full-time academic geneticist at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor, without tenure by reason of funding (WOT) on the Clinician-Scholar pathway. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. Anticipated start date is Summer 2024. 

Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Responsibilities will include patient care (inpatient consultations, outpatient genetics clinics, regional clinics throughout Washington, telemedicine, and multidisciplinary clinics) and teaching of medical students and residents.  Opportunities will be available for clinical research and collaboration with physician/scientists in the Seattle Children’s Research Institute and basic scientists in the Departments of Pediatrics and of Genome Sciences at the University of Washington. These positions will offer unique opportunities to expand clinical services and develop new programs in medical genetics.

The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professors $11,588 - $17,381 per month ($139,056 - $208,572 annually), Associate Professors  $13,294 - $19,940 per month ($159,528 - $239,280 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children’s University Medical Group practice plan.

Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Have an MD or DO, or MD/DO combined (or foreign equivalent)
  • Be board certified or board eligible in Clinical Genetics and Genomics
  • Have completed Catergorical Genetics residency or Combined Pediatric Genetics residency 
  • Be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
