Position Overview:
Seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Outpatient Neurosurgery team. This is a full-time, weekday position offering a rewarding opportunity to work alongside renowned neurosurgeons and a multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity academic medical center. The NP will play a pivotal role in the preoperative and postoperative management of neurosurgical patients in the outpatient setting, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of neurosurgery patients in the preoperative and postoperative phases of care.

  • Perform detailed clinical assessments, including history and physical examinations.

  • Review and interpret diagnostic imaging (MRI, CT, X-rays) relevant to neurosurgical cases.

  • Provide medication management, including initiating and adjusting prescriptions as clinically appropriate.

  • Coordinate care across a multidisciplinary team, including surgeons, primary care providers, physical therapists, case managers, and other specialists.

  • Educate patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment plans, surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and follow-up care.

  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety protocols within the department.

Qualifications:

  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Maryland.

  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by an accredited national certifying body (e.g., AANP, ANCC).

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of NP experience preferred; neurosurgery, neurology, or surgical specialty experience is highly desirable.

  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

*** TRAVEL: Multi-site practice may require travel locally 1-2 days per week. 

UMMS Downtown training for 1-2 months, main position located at BWMC - Glen Burnie, with UMMS quarterly visits

Total Rewards
The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
