Director of Operations- Wheelchair
The Director of Operations - Wheelchair is responsible for delivering clear direction, leadership, and support to the wheelchair operations team to ensure customer, operations, and financial goals are met. The Director of Operations focuses on developing a culture of pride that consistently delivers safe, efficient, reliable operations while ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Atlanta Operations.
Responsibilities
- Direct supervision 32 of Managers and a team of 1700 hourly employees, providing first class support to passengers with disabilities, requiring wheelchair assistance or other special service requests.
- Build effective and collaborative relationships with the customer, business partners, and other business entities through integrity, credibility, visible leadership, and excellent communication.
- Ensure systems are in place and assessed regularly to provide best-in-class performance in safety, customer satisfaction, operational performance, and financial results.
- Ensure compliance is maintained in accordance with policies and procedures throughout all areas (i.e., training/recurrent training, safety, SIDA, etc.)
- Ensure adherence to airport and aircraft security regulations and compliance with all government regulatory requirements.
- Ensure proper staffing levels daily for all work areas for hourly staffing.
- Anticipate staffing needs for optimum performance and ensure proactive recruiting measures are implemented.
- Ensure ongoing development of staff to include cross-training and skills assessments which qualify team members for greater responsibility, compensation, and growth.
- Promote team-building initiatives and perform coaching/mentoring activities to develop and motivate team members.
- Execute daily/weekly/monthly operational plans consistent with customer expectations and goals.
- Identify and drive continuous improvements in the operation process and communicate them to the staff, customer, and executive team.
- Oversee a variety of fiscal management activities including invoicing and billing, reconciliation, and accurate record keeping.
- Ensure compliance with the Air Carrier Access Act, airport policies, airline procedures, FAA & DOT regulations, U.S. Customs and Border Control and company policies and rules.
- Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Aviation Management or related field is preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in airport operations and leadership is preferred.
- Must possess a valid GA driver’s license.
- Must complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security credentials.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet operational needs.
