Job Description
Turner & Townsend are seeking a local Constructability Manager to provide crucial support in the field of construction management. In this role, the candidate will collaborate with the Projects Organization to conduct constructability reviews of early phase engineering designs.
The primary responsibilities include interfacing with Project Management, Engineering Contractors, and Site Construction teams to ensure that engineering designs are optimally suited for construction. While field construction management activities are not expected, a wealth of construction experience in a similar role is essential. Local candidates are preferred for this position to ensure seamless coordination with project stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Projects Organization to conduct thorough constructability reviews of early phase engineering designs, ensuring alignment with project objectives and industry standards.
- Interface effectively with Project Management, Engineering Contractors, and Site Construction teams to provide constructive feedback on design aspects and propose enhancements for optimal constructability.
- Evaluate project plans and specifications to identify potential challenges or inefficiencies in construction, offering proactive solutions to enhance overall project execution.
- Work closely with the engineering team to integrate constructability considerations into the design phase, aiming for cost-effective and efficient construction processes.
- Provide expertise in construction methodologies, materials, and techniques, contributing to the development of best practices and guidelines for future projects.
- Conduct regular site visits to gain insights into local conditions, potential challenges, and construction progress, ensuring that designs are practical and aligned with on-site requirements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve constructability issues, fostering a collaborative environment among project teams and promoting continuous improvement.
- Assist in the preparation of comprehensive constructability reports and communicate findings to relevant project stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making.
- Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and regulations to incorporate relevant innovations into constructability reviews and project processes.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, sharing knowledge and fostering professional development within the construction management domain.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., PMP, PMI-SP) is a plus.
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in project management, construction management, or a related role, preferably within industries such as, construction, engineering, oil and gas, or manufacturing.
- Experienced with Bluebeam and Aspen Tech ideal.
- Experience managing teams of individual project managers and support staff.
- Strong knowledge of local construction market.
- Strong understanding of all aspects of the construction project life cycle.
- Ability to develop strong relationships with internal team members, clients, and cross-functional team members.
- Business development experience with existing and new clients, including cross-selling opportunities.
