Position Summary
We are seeking highly motivated candidates for a Senior Software Engineer to make a significant impact in a dynamic and innovative environment. The selected candidate will apply excellent team leadership techniques and industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001:2015, CMMI, applying High-Level Architecture Waterfall, Spiral, and Agile development methods) analysis and design techniques to design and develop complex software systems for virtual prototyping. Enhance current and future design capabilities and standards, while leading the software technical efforts of the engineering team. The position requires researching and applying advanced software architectures, mathematical models, system modeling, graphical models, and programming techniques to design, develop, maintain, and extend innovative products and solutions for research and development.
The selected candidate will fill an immediate opening supporting our government customer on-site at Fort Belvoir, VA. Occasional telework will occur only after coordination with the government customer and senior corporate site lead.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Works with minimal guidance to design, develop and employ R&D (Research & Development) and/or prototype scientific & engineering software.
- Leads the technical software activities throughout the system development lifecyle, including design, development, peer reviews, testing, issue/defect resolution, and documentation.
- Actively communicate with stakeholders, e.g. Project Engineer, Program Manager, and other engineers on the team.
- Assist the perception team in meeting research goals with solutions and scope.
- Design, develop, and test applications on both Linux and Windows platforms.
- Participate in the planning, coordination, execution, and documentation of the system and software.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or applicable engineering or science field.
- 10+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on designing and implementing complex systems.
- Proficiency with multiple programming languages such as C/C++/C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar.
- Experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence or similar collaboration software tools.
- Strong understanding of design principles, with a proven track record of development in accordance with the design specifications, user interface style guides, and established usability standards.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and debugging skills, including the ability to readily decompose complex problems into smaller, manageable tasks.
- Strong attention to detail, communication skills, ability to balance multiple work priorities, and work in a collaborative team environment.
