JOB SUMMARY:

The Clinical Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacist with the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients by providing clear communication to patients and other healthcare team members. This communication will occur primarily via telephone and electronic messaging systems in an outpatient setting and data entry using Electronic Health Records.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Answer patient telephone calls, triage patient requests to appropriate providers, place phone calls to patients to communicate medication reminders, process and schedule medication refills, identify potential cost savings, communicate the benefits of using Think Pharmacy, coordinate/verify delivery and payment information, schedule appointments.

Coordinate with patients, pharmacists, and other healthcare team members to assess medication management needs and execute plans by using Electronic Health Records (EHR) to schedule clinical pharmaceutical care-related appointments, query patients, send electronic messages to self and team members, send refill requests, enter sync plans, monitor provider schedules, review medications, and establishing and documenting medication sync plans. Complete medication prior authorization requests for Think Pharmacy and Clinic patients.

Research Think PCP patients to identify potential Think Pharmacy patients (pre-board) and accordingly transfer their retail care to Think Pharmacy (onboard) by reviewing review medications prescribed and/or dispensed by outside providers, running test claims and analyzes insurance parameters and claim information, and updating pharmacy eligibility flowsheets in Allscripts with current pharmacy and insurance information. Place phone calls to outside providers and Pharmacy Benefit Management companies (PBMs) to collect appropriate information and to cancel existing prescriptions necessary for the onboarding process.

Assist in coordination of patient assistance for Think Pharmacy patients.

Attend regular provider huddles and team stand-ups to address issues, team goals, and work-flow optimization.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Knowledge of prescription, medication, and pharmacy procedures/best practices.

Knowledge of HIPAA and privacy standards.

Skill in using a computer and a variety of software, including Electronics Health Records (EHR) software, Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.

Skill in communicating in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing.

Skill in managing multiple priorities.

Ability to convey professional demeanor when engaging with patients, protecting privacy, and confidentiality.

Ability to enter data into a computer to maintain records.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Ability to act as a good representative of the company.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or GED required. Current State of Nebraska Pharmacy Technician license, in good standing, and a minimum of one (1) year as a pharmacy technician in a licensed pharmacy required. QS/1 system and Electronic Health Record experience preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

• This role operates in a healthcare setting. This position requires frequent sitting and computer work and allows employee to vary physical position or activity for comfort.

• Must be able to:

Stand 10% or longer of an 8-hour workday.

Walk 5% of an 8-hour workday.

Sit 85% of an 8-hour workday.

• Requires ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

• Requires employee to: bend, squat, kneel and reach above shoulder level occasionally and twist occasionally.

• Requires repetitive use of hands for: simple grasping, fine manipulation, computer use

• Requires all sensory skills (speech, vision, smell, touch, and hearing) corrected to near normal range.
