We are searching for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our design team to develop novel mass spectrometers and associated products. You will collaborate with a broad team of engineers and scientists researching new technologies and bringing them to market.

Job Description:

In R&D, we work as a multi-disciplinary team to design components, assemblies, and processes used by the scientific instruments industry. These efforts, coupled with skills in engineering and design, lead to proof-of-concept experiments, new product development, and product improvements. This role is suitable for a fully on-site or hybrid work experience only. It requires ability to assemble and test systems in collaboration with other scientists and engineers.

Requirements:

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 10+ years of work experience. M.S. preferred.
  • Experience in 3-D solid modeling using SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer, or similar. Direct experience with SolidWorks preferred.
  • Ability to apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) in the design process.
  • Experience with the design of precision parts. Knowledge of ion optics preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate with other engineers to understand and solve complex design challenges as part of a larger design team.
  • Experience with multiple manufacturing processes (i.e. casting, molding, machining, etc.) and materials preferred.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of mechanical designs for vacuum and ultra-high vacuum systems.
  • Experience with scientific instrumentation, medical devices, or semiconductor process systems.
  • Experience with the requirements definition process as well as verification and validation.
  • Understanding of ISO9001 and ISO13485 practices.
  • Ability to lead tasks to completion and support them through their product life cycle.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $129,400.00–$172,500.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
