Location/Division Specific Information

Miami, Fl Site / Biologicals and Chemicals Division/Facilities

Hours: Day 2nd Shift, Monday – Friday (2:00 p.m. to 10 p.m.*)

*Overtime is required after 10:00 p.m. as needed by operations.

10% shift differential

Summary:

The candidate should have experience in performing mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical repairs, adjustments, inspection, and monitoring of manufacturing equipment. Uses independent judgment to analyze, troubleshoot and repair complex equipment and machinery. Works independently with minimal supervision with preventive maintenance always in mind. Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, diagrams, and equipment specifications. May provide guidance and/or delegate workflow to less experienced technicians. Effectively works in a team setting, supporting team goals and objectives. Follow the Thermo Fisher Scientific corporate standards, and best management practice.

What will you do?

  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair complex equipment and machinery.
  • Lead installation and removal of equipment, inspects work of other technician and leads performance as required.
  • Read and interprets blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, diagrams, and equipment specifications.
  • Continuous preventive maintenance on all machinery.

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Electronics Technology or Mechanical Technology or vocational school diploma with related trades training preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Three years of proven experience in maintenance and equipment repair.
  • Able to communicate (verbal and written) to external contractors and vendors.
  • Experience in using mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical skills, must analyze, troubleshoot, and repair complex equipment and machinery.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities to Succeed

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, diagrams, and equipment specifications is required.
  • Understanding and use of trades mathematics, calibration techniques, and precision measuring instruments crucial.
  • Must maintain constant mental and visual attention performing moderately sophisticated work requiring close limits of accuracy and tolerances.
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling, moving of equipment and machinery up to 60 lbs., frequently is required.
  • Strong in application of technical principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience with JP Morgan Enterprise and SAP, a plus.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels both written and verbal.
  • Effective skills in analytical thinking and problem solving.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks.
  • Basic proficiency of Windows operating system and associated software.
