Location/Division Specific Information

Our Recombinant Proteins (REP) Business Unit in Cranbury, NJ is part of our Biosciences Division. REP unites deep scientific expertise with a collaborative culture to build a product portfolio that includes cytokines, growth factors, antibodies and ELISA kits used to support the research of our academic, government, biotech, and pharmaceutical customers.

The Product Manager develops and implements global product strategies to accelerate the growth of our Research Use Only and Animal Free cytokines. Reporting to the Sr. Director/General Manager for the Recombinant Proteins business, this role also leads day-to-day tactical aspects of the product portfolio, and supporting market analysis, planning, and commercial strategy. Key success metrics of this position are revenue growth, portfolio profitability, and new product introductions.

A Day in the Life:

  • Responsible for revenue, margin, customer satisfaction, and market share objectives as well as full product life cycle including product discontinuation strategies to ensure positive customer experience and smooth revenue transition.
  • Develop, implement, and run new and/or existing products in a portfolio by creating and implementing product marketing plans, leading New Product Introduction (NPI) teams, and providing data related to competitors, the market, positioning, revenue and unit forecasting, and pricing strategies.
  • Provide direction and support to commercial, R&D, market development, distribution partners and operations, to increase revenue and develop and implement marketing strategies. Draw together future demand forecasts to enable the manufacturing and supply chain teams to deliver efficient service levels globally
  • An effective performer will maintain close relationships with field organization (e.g., sales and technical support) through training and active participation in the sales process, including customer visits, participating with pricing tactics, and customer support.
  • Lead the life cycle of the existing product portfolio. Responsibilities include driving product line strategies, pricing /margin optimization, management across the customer value continuum, and customer intimacy efforts.
  • Assist in identifying and developing effective promotional and sales tools and collateral marketing pieces.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • Bachelor’s in a scientific field required
  • Master’s in a scientific field or MBA strongly preferred
  • Ph.D. in a scientific field is preferred

Experience

  • Portfolio planning, product rationalization, capturing Voice of Customer, Market Research, Market Strategy, Value Based Pricing.
  • Minimum 3+ years, product management, R&D or market development experience.
  • Experience working directly with customers.
  • Experience working with cross functional teams in product development and portfolio management
  • Knowledge of cell and gene therapy, global cytokine/ growth factor markets and competitive landscape

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Products: PowerPoint, Excel, PowerBI.

  • Great interpersonal skills: able to prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously for both yourself and your team and especially drive organisational change
  • Strong influential leadership, project management and planning skills; comfortable making strategic decisions
