Job Description
DUTIES: Develop algorithms for molecular diagnostics based on real-time PCR, digital PCR and Microarray technologies.
Develop signal processing, image analysis, optimization, and machine learning algorithms.
Collaborate with Systems, Optics and Software Engineers on new technology and instrument development.
Troubleshoot complex problems in existing code and execute systematic testing of algorithms.
Guide bench scientists with data interpretation, analysis, and experimental design.
Contribute to product development from feasibility work to commercialization and regulatory approvals.
Present difficult concepts in a clear way to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Willing to travel up to 5% domestically.
REQUIREMENTS: PhD or foreign degree equivalent in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or a related field of study plus 1 year of experience as a Staff Bioinformatics Scientist, Staff Statistician, or related experience. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, experience, or training. Experience may be gained concurrently through graduate level coursework and/or internships. Employer will also accept a Master’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or a related field of study plus 3 years of experience as a Staff Bioinformatics Scientist, Staff Statistician, or related experience as an equivalent alternative. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, experience, or training. Experience may be gained concurrently through graduate level coursework and/or internships.
Must have knowledge or experience with:
Experience in algorithm development for scientific applications;
Proficiency in C++ or Java development;
Prototyping in Python or Matlab;
Molecular biology, bioinformatics, chemistry, optics, fluorescent dyes, microfluidics, and DNA probe design;
Statistics, numerical methods and optimization, and understanding of data analysis principles; and
Signal processing and image analysis for real time PCR, capillary electrophoresis, microarray, or similar instrumentation.
Salary: $153,900 to $168,700/per year
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $153,900.00–$168,700.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
