Looking to begin your career in healthcare? We would love to support your growth and development in our Nurse Assistant Trainee Program. All course costs are covered and your time is compensated! While in class, you will be employed as a full-time Nurse Assistant Trainee where you will be under the supervision of a licensed nurse and provide specific aspects of direct and indirect nursing care and emotional support for our patients and families under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Upon graduation, you will gain firsthand experience working alongside our skilled staff as a Licensed Nursing Assistant I. After a year of experience, you will be eligible to advance to LNA II.
We are accepting applications for the upcoming July and September 2024 sessions for the LNA Trainee program.
The first 5 weeks are on-site at the UVM Medical Center or Essex Tech Center. Once you receive your LNA license you will be a LNA at Home Health and Hospice!
Upon starting as a licensed LNA at HHH you will be eligible for $1,500 Sign On Bonus! Applicable only to external applicants.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
- Basic Education (high school diploma or equivalent, or be working towards it)
- Become a Licensed Nursing Assistant following successful passing of Nurse Assistant Training Program and state licensure exam.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must walk, sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during working hours Must have the ability to push, pull and lift from the floor, up to a total of 50 pounds and be able to move with the weight, as to organization’s standards Climbing-be able to navigate stairs of varying heights and degrees Balancing-be able to maintain balance Kneeling, crouching, stooping, twisting, reaching below waist level, reaching overhead and reaching torso level Manual finger dexterity-will need dexterity to perform duties and use equipment Visual acuity-will need sufficient eyesight to drive a car, use office equipment and perform duties Auditory acuity- will need to assist individuals in person and by telephone
Performance Standards:
- Includes basic nursing assistant trainee and restorative duties for which the nursing assistant trainee is prepared by education and supervised practice such as wound care, assistance with self-administered medications, assistance with therapeutic experiences, help with assistive devices, simple technical procedures
- Assist in personal care of patients including ambulation, use of wheelchair/walker/cane and other adaptive equipment, transfer activities, range of motion, bathing, shampooing, hair care, oral hygiene, nail care, shaving, skin care, dressing, toileting/bowel programs/ostomy and catheter care, meal preparation, special diets, and other activities of daily living
- Communicates observations and changes in patient status with the RN case manager or designee
- Documents the care provided and the patient’s response to care according to organization’s standards
- On a limited bases, performs general housekeeping. Light everyday housecleaning tasks: make beds, wash dishes and clean up kitchen and bathroom areas, make tidy living areas
- Light laundry
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
