Description
The Cleveland Museum of Art seeks an Electrician whose primary responsibility is for installation, repair and maintenance of all electrical equipment and apparatus throughout the Museum’s buildings and grounds up to and including 480 volts.
Responsibilities
- Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment. Will install low voltage wiring as directed by the Engineering supervisor.
- Tests malfunctioning electrical equipment and apparatus, diagnoses malfunction, and repairs or replaces as needed.
- Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electrical components of machinery and circuits such as relays, switches, motors, transformers, and circuit breakers.
- Plans layout of wiring. Installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus throughout building. Ensures compliance with current National Electrical Code and State and local building codes.
- Reads blueprints to determine nature, location, and distribution path of installed wiring and electrical components. Updates departmental record drawings and documents to reflect new installations.
- Maintains and operates the Lutron lighting automation system.
- Changes lamps and/or acts as a team leader to other members of the engineering workgroup in the regular changing of lamps in all non-collection areas.
- Maintains the Museum’s non-collection lamp inventory.
- Purchases electrical supplies as necessary, ensuring responsible use of Museum and departmental resources.
- Other and similar duties as assigned.
Requirements
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from Two‑year College or technical school in electrical theory; minimum five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Employee should have strong knowledge of electrical theory and be well versed in electrical safety protocols, procedures and proper use of PPE. Previous experience with various electrical testing equipment, including but not limited to, volt-ohm-meter (V.O.M.), amp probe, and continuity tester required, as well as all hand and power tools.
