Description

The Cleveland Museum of Art is looking for an Electrical Services Supervisor. This position supervises, coordinates activities of staff engaged in the installation, repair and maintenance of all electrical equipment and apparatus throughout the Museum’s buildings and grounds up to and including 480 volts.

Responsibilities

  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment. May install low voltage wiring. Provides cost estimates for electrical component of in-house projects to the Associate Director for Operations.
  • Tests malfunctioning electrical equipment and apparatus, diagnoses malfunction, and repairs or replaces as needed.
  • Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electrical components of machinery and circuits such as relays, switches, motors, transformers, and circuit breakers.
  • Plans layout of wiring. Installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus throughout building. Ensures compliance with National Electrical Code and State and local building codes.
  • Reads blueprints to determine nature, location, and distribution path of installed wiring and electrical components. Updates departmental record drawings and documents to reflect new installations.
  • Maintains a current City of Cleveland electrical license and secures all required electrical permits for in-house project work and general electrical maintenance. Keeps a log of activities and any other documentation required to satisfy licensure requirements.
  • Manages the Lutron lighting automation system.
  • Manages and ensures proper lock out tag out procedures for electrical equipment by all members of the department.
  • Changes lamps and/or acts as a team leader to other members of the engineering work group in the regular changing of lamps in all non-collection areas.
  • Manages the Museum’s non-collection lamp inventory.
  • Purchases electrical supplies as necessary, ensuring responsible use of Museum and departmental resources.
  • Other and similar duties as assigned.

Requirements

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two‑year college or technical school in electrical theory; minimum five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Employee should have strong knowledge of electrical theory. Previous experience with various electrical testing equipment, such as volt-ohm-meter (V.O.M.), amp probe, and continuity tester required, as well as all hand and power tools.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock.
