Internship Overview
The Development Division’s Museum by Moonlight Intern will be responsible for assisting the Development Events Planner with the planning and logistics of Museum by Moonlight (MBM) and the Corporate Development team with integral parts of the fundraising effort—primarily through selling group tickets for Museum by Moonlight (MBM). This position will provide the selected candidate with invaluable planning of a large and elevated event, sales experience, confidence in making cold calls, and comprehensive experience in sponsorship identification, research, cultivation, solicitation, and contract fulfillment. This position will also provide valuable insight into the business and fundraising work of a large and intricate non-profit company.
Internship Duties
- Primary responsibility will be calling Indiana companies and soliciting them for Museum by Moonlight (MBM) group ticket sales.
- Create a script, prospect list, and sales pitch in coordination with the Director to sell MBM tickets.
- Spend a significant amount of time researching potential corporate partners and cleaning up contact lists to aid in solicitation.
- Assist the Corporate team in on-site partner activations and fundraising events including Museum by Moonlight on August, 24th 2024.
- Shadow Corporate Partnership Team members as appropriate at sponsor meetings and on phone calls.
- Work with Development and Marketing staff on writing copy for corporate communications (i.e. sales sheets, corporate eNewsletter, etc.)
- Assist with food vendor solicitation and cleanup of records.
- Assist with communication with external vendors including gathering contract and financial documentation.
- Work with multiple museum departments and external vendors to coordinate vendor on-site arrivals, set up, and departures for Museum by Moonlight.
- Assist with project management tasks related to planning and logistics of Museum by Moonlight.
Internship Requirements
- Be a Junior/Senior majoring in general business, sales, marketing, sports management or related major
- Charismatic personality and comfortability when making cold calls.
- Exceptional oral and written skills are critical to this position.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
- Exhibit good organizational and research skills.
- Good time management, ability to meet deadlines and multi-task
- Some nights and weekends may be required
- Must be able to lift objects and up to 30 pounds of weight, sit, stand, or kneel. Agility and dexterity are required for extensive navigation of the museum facility.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite
